South Korean badminton sensation Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance) has fallen from the top of the women's singles world rankings after more than a year.

The South Korean player dropped from No. 1 to No. 2 in the women's singles rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Monday, with 100,337 ranking points, behind her 'rival' Chen Yufei (China - 101,682).

Ahn, who has held the No. 1 ranking since first reaching the top spot in the rankings on Aug. 1 last year, was pushed down after about a year and two months.

Ahn, who became the first South Korean women's singles player to reach the No. 1 ranking in 27 years after Daebae Bae Su-hyun, went on to win both the world championships and the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, as well as a gold medal at the Paris Olympics this summer.

However, after last year's Asian Games, 파워볼실시간 she suffered a knee injury that kept her out of competition for a while, and even after her return, she experienced ups and downs.

Her absence from competition after Paris may have affected her ranking.

Ahn's post-Olympic absence was ostensibly due to her injury, but many analysts believe that it was also related to the fallout from her “off-the-cuff remarks” criticizing the Korean Badminton Association's system and national team management shortly after winning the Olympic gold medal.

Ahn has been named to the roster for the National Games, which begin on Sept. 9. If she does compete, it will be her first competitive match in two months.
